Secrets - Robin Jones Gunn

I was so excited to read this book, as I have read books from Robin Jones Gunn in the past and really enjoyed them. I dove right in.

After a few chapters, I started thinking, "This book reminds me of another that I have read." By the middle of the book, I realized I have already read this book before. Within the last year!

It's a high compliment to the book that I have read this book so recently and yet I continued reading it.

Robin Jones Gunn is a great writer, and I always enjoy her books. They are candy for the mind. In Secrets, the reader finds Jessica running away from something. In her attempt to run away, she also runs away from things which would bring hope, such as a budding relationship with a town firefighter.

As in all secrets, Jessica realizes that the truth must come out for a relationship to go forward. Secrets takes us on her journey of finding truth, both in her heart and from her God.

Good read, 4 stars!

Clouds by Robin Jones Gunn

Jonathan and Shelly were best friends growing up. As so often does, time broke them apart. Now they have a second chance, or at least that is how it seems. Unfortunately, a previous engagement stands in the way of a reunion of their friendship and love.

I enjoyed this book. It makes a statement that I think is so important. So frequently, women think that once they get married they will be happy. Or their life will come together in marriage...SO not TRUE!

Robin Jones Gunn uses Shelly to explain the truth that a relationship with Christ should come before any other relationship. It is only when Shelly deepens her relationship with the Creator of the Universe that she finds out how to be truly content, with or without Jonathan.

A great read and a great reminder of what is truly important in life.

4 stars!

Against the Tide - 4.5 stars

I had never heard of Elizabeth Camden before, but now she is going to be a favorite on my reading list.

I read Against the Tide and was blown away by the quality of writing. Especially from someone I had never heard of.

I found the characters compelling, the story line believable and the book, in general, was much deeper than others I have read like it.

Lydia Pallus is a strong willed woman, who falls for a man who is full of passion. The passion that he lives and breathes threatens to tear them apart.

This book enlightened me to something I had never given a second thought to, the opium trade of the 19th century.

Check this book out, it is different than the typical historical romance. It has a great plot and you just might fall in love with the characters!

A Kingsbury Collection - 4.5 Stars

If you have never read Karen Kingsbury, then you are certainly missing out. She is one of the greatest Christian fiction authors, ever. In this collection, there are three books; Where Yesterday Lives, When Joy came to Stay and On Every Side.

My favorite had to be When Joy Came to Stay. I have seen the effects of children who live in homes where love is not abundant. It is devastating. My heart broke for the little girl and her mom who was ridden with so many problems. When Joy Came to Stay talks about the damage that hiding our sin causes and the havoc it wreaks on ourselves and those around us. I cried multiple times in this book, so if you are looking for a book not to cry, read another one. Where Yesterday Lives will touch every person who is in a family. All family has baggage and issues. I love watching the characters figure out how to love each other and work through their junk.

Karen Kingbury is a master storyteller. Any and all of her books are amazing, but this collection is a good place to start! Why don't you read chapter one and tell me what you think?

LOVE Cosmo VoxBox

I am madly in love with this Cosmo VoxBox!

Okay, when I say in love, I mean I really like it. I don't love this as much as my hubby. I might love this as much as my dog, though.

I recieved these goodies in the mail from Influenster for free in exchange for my honest review. The Venus Razor is AhMAZING!! I LOVE it.

For someone who journals, the Pilot gel pens are such a smooth write.

I am not a huge fan of milk chocolate, but the Ghiradelli bar was still incredibly tasty.

The sweet scent from Bath and Body works is something I will save for those special occasions.

This box is awesome. Have you signed up for Influenster yet? You totally should!
