The respect Dare

You have probably heard of the Love Dare. I was SO excited to see this book and have the chance to review it. The Respect Dare addresses that which is so needed for husbands today. As women, we know how to love. We expect it from our husbands. Yet, when it comes to respect. So often we say that our men need to deserve our respect. That just isn't the case. As men are to love their wives, so wives are to respect their men.

This book challenges wives to show respect to their men. Nina Roesner encourages women in ways to show our men the respect that we are commanded to give.

This is a must read for wives everywhere!

Unending Devotion - 5 stars

Unending Devotion

Lily is on a mission. She is out to change the world, one freedom at a time. Ever since her sister disappeared, Lily is on a quest to find her. If she can save women from prostitution along the way, then that's even better.

Connell is a rugged logger, at least that is what he appears to be. When Lily and Connell collide, an intriguing relationship is formed.

I loved this book. I found it incredibly insightful and interesting. I loved the characters. They were interesting and some of their antics made me laugh. Lily made me just want to shake her because of her stubbornness, but she was also believable.

I thoroughly enjoyed the historical context of this book. I thought this book was not only a good read, but it also was highly educational about sex slavery in the 1800's.

You definitely need to check this one out!

Fully Alive - 3 stars

Fully Alive: Lighten Up and Live - A Journey that Will Change Your LIfe

I struggled with this book, I was very excited to read it becuase of all the reviews I've read. I also read the back of the book and thought it was going to be fantastic. Unfortunately, it wasn't life changing for me. I think Ken Davis had a lot of great points and some fun stories, but I didn't really personally connect with the book.

I like books that make me think. Although this book is nonfiction, it didn't really make me think deeper, or evaluate my life. It was more of an easy, fun read.

I recommend this to you, if you want to read a nonfiction book about faith, but you don't want to get too deep.

Be Still my Soul - 4.5 stars

Lonnie Sawyer is young and naive. She doesn't even understand the implications involved when she allows Gideon to walk her home one night. As much as she wants to get out from under her father's roof, the only way out isn't one she wants to take.

When she is forced into a marriage she doesn't want, Lonnie's faith is tested more than she ever thought possible.

I have never read any books by Joanne Bischof before, and I found that I really enjoyed this one. One of my favorite things about this book is that is was NOT predictable. One of the most frustrating things about Christian fiction is how predictable it is. You know who is going to end up with who and what mistakes they are going to make before chapter two. In this book, that was not the case. I found myself taken off guard multiple times by the way the book went.

I was encouraged by Lonnie's faith and how she continued to trust God, even when it seemed like the world was against her.

This was a sweet read, I recommend it.
